Adherent Cell Culture Bags

VueLife AC Bags are designed to culture adherent cells in a closed system environment. They can also be used for the expansion of cord blood.

General Information

All VueLife AC bags are made from the highest quality USP Class VI fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) material. They provide high permeability to oxygen and carbon dioxide whilst remaining impermeable to water for improved culture and expansion. The unique design allows for culture in a closed system environment with the use of sterile docking equipment. Each VueLife adherent cell culture bag is provided with standard PVC tubing.

VueLife AC Bags utilize a treated form of FEP film giving the interior of the bag a higher surface energy than that of the VueLife C Bags. This modified surface energy is meant to better promote cell and protein adhesion to the surface of the bag.

To offer a maximum of flexibility the VueLife AC Bags are available in different cell culture volumes ranging from 32 ml to 750ml.

Features

  • Unique FEP film with proprietary surface treatment permits reversible adherence of cells and proteins
  • Connection via sterile docking to the PVC tubing or a female luer lock
  • Safe and aseptic access through Female Luer Valve (needle-less injection site which mates with standard male luer fittings or needle adapters)
  • Culture volumes can be gradually expanded during cell culture by using external clamps
  • Non-reactive with virtually all chemicals and biologics, including DMSO and DMF
  • 510(k) cleared, FDA Drug Master File available

Applications

  • Culture of cells that may require adhesion, e.g. maturation of dendritic cells
  • Culture of cells under circumstances that require a protein layer, e.g. for transfection
  • Sterile expansion of cord blood

Adherence specific feature

Inner surface layer is treated by corona discharge which leads to enhanced surface energy and as a result to adherence. This can be reversed by using conventional methods (e.g. trypsin) or by physical measures (infusing sterile air into the bag). After sterile air infusion the interior surface needs to dry. Drying takes less than one minute and is readily apparent by visual observation. To release all cells the bag has to be turned over to allow the air to dry on both sides.
